How do I install?

Is 22 System UL listed?
Yes, 22 System is CE compliant and UL listed. 22 System is designed following UL standards 498 and 514D and the National Electrical Code (NEC 2023, NFPA 70) and is verified to comply with BS1363 and IEC 60884. US Utility Patents 7,956,295 and 8,232,482.

Does each 22 System outlet require its own branch circuit?
Yes. The branch circuit wiring that supplies each device consists of a separate cable assembly originating outside the box, or conductors in a raceway, all of which originate outside the box. Other than connecting to a single device, the conductors must not be spliced in the box or continued to another device. No other wiring shall enter the box.
Is 22 System approved for use in New York City?
Yes. The New York City Department of Building, Electrical Code Revision and Interpretation Committee issued interpretations in 2019 and 2023 regarding 22 System outlets and installation. In June 2024 an updated interpretation was issued to replace the prior interpretations, with 22 System approved for use per manufacturer installation instructions. What surfaces/materials can I install the 22 System into?
We offer two assembly options, 22 System Multi-material for installation with millwork, stone, tile, glass, etc. and 22 System Drywall for drywall only installations.
What colour options do you offer?
We offer White, Black, Almond and Gray. View colour options
Are your outlets tamper resistant?
Yes, 22 System outlets are tamper resistant and bear the "TR" marking on the outlet face.
What device box should I use?
Standard depth device boxes are compatible with 22 System mounting plates. Device boxes must have two screw holes (one at the top and one at the bottom) in the middle plane from the two edges. The spacing between these two screw holes should be 83 mm (+/- 0.5 mm).

Which device size do I choose for installation into a multi-material?

Do you have a GFI/GFCI outlet?
While we do not offer a GFCI outlet, code can be reached by using a 22 System outlet in conjunction with an independently sourced GFCI remotely installed in the panel. Please consult with a certified electrician for more information.
Do I need a 22 System Tool?
Yes, a 22 System Tool is required for all 22 System installations to access the device box wiring and is compatible with all device depths.
Can I combine a line voltage and a low voltage device on the same mounting plate?
Line voltage and low voltage devices can be combined as long as the junction box is equipped with a “permanent barrier” or listed divider. The raceway system to access the junction box should also be separated. For more information please refer to the National Electric Code (NEC 2008: Article 800.133 Exception #1 and Article 620.36).
What do I use your 22.3.6 Keypad Control for?
This is a minimalist keypad control for use with smart home systems, performing functions as programmed through your home automation system via a CAT5 connection.
Do you have a dimmer?
While we do not offer a dimmer at this time, our 22.3.6 keypad can be programmed to control the dimming function in conjunction with a smart home system.

What is the lead time?
Please allow 2-4 business days of production lead time prior to shipping.
What is the shipping time?
Once an order has been dispatched from the 22 System warehouse in Vancouver, Canada, standard orders within North America should arrive within 3-5 business days. Expedited shipping is 1-2 business days. The aforementioned transit times do not include customs clearance processing time which orders over $2,500 USD will subject to.

Can I change or update my order once it's been placed?
We are unable to revise orders once they have been placed. Orders are processed immediately after they are placed to ensure they arrive as quickly as possible. If you need to revise or cancel your order, please reach out to us as soon as possible at info@22system.com and we will do our best to assist you (M-F 9am-4pm PST).
Warranty
What is the warranty on 22 system parts?
We offer a one year warranty from the date of original shipment.
